How do I buy Visual Studio 6.0? RRS feed

  • Question

  • How do I buy Visual Studio 6.0? I have it at work, but now I want to get it home too in order to practise VB6-programming non-commercially. With Java I could download some free compiler and free IDE, but how about with VB6?

I have already found out that I would get Visual Studio 6.0 if I bought MSDN subscription. But there was only Team Edition packages and Visual Studio 2008 Professional with MSDN Professional for my country. That MSDN VS2008 costs over 1200 euros. Isn't there anything less costly?

Yes I know VB6 is dieing, but I want to try something with it. Does Microsoft offer easy solution for this or should I just forget it?

  • Hi,
for your purposes you can simply download Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition for free. It's the lastest and more powerful version ever of the Visual Basic programming language, it's free for both non-commercial and commercial uses.

    Here: http://www.microsoft.com/express

As far as I know, Visual Basic 6 is no longer supported being too obsolete.
