Read only permissions

Question

How do I keep a read-only user from opening an Excel document on the shared documents list and saving it to his PC.  I want him to only be able to view the document, not save it to his desktop to give to someone who does not have access to the site.

Hi,

If your users have Read access they will still be able to Open the file, do a Save As or do a copy/paste of the content. But they will not be able to upload changes to the SharePoint site.

You have to implement "Information Rights Management". I don't know much about it (Cost, License etc).
