identifying where document is corrupted, how? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an application which programmatically combines pieces of documents into a more complex document based on a structure which itself is a word document.

We have observed cases where the document that we build based on the part cannot be opened anymore. Word tells us that the document is corrupt and can't be opened.  I have found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928282/en-us which mentions a issue like this but this does not seem to be the case we have.

In one simple case, word is able to recover but doing so it seems to do many more changes tahn the strict  minimum and I  have not yet been able to pin down  the crucial difference.

Are there any tools that would go through an Office 2007 document and check that it strictly conforms to all the schemas involved and tells where there are issues?

    Thanks,

    D.
