Required Fields for Sections RRS feed

  • Here's my situation, i have 3 sections within my form that has rules applied.  The 3 sections are New, Change and Close.  Depending on the request type made, if it's new, then the New section will appear.  If it's close, the close section will appear, etc.  Within each section, there are fields that are required and cannot be left blank.  The issue is, when I submit the form to save to sharepoint, infopath shows an error that says there fields that needs to be filled out. 

    How do I go around this and have infopath only validates data based on the request type? If I choose, New, and the new section appears, it will only check that section and make sure require fields are filled out.  Thanks for any help.  Hope I made sense.

  • Instead of setting the element as required in the data source, use validation (the Validation tab on the element Properties page).  This way you can make the element required only when other criteria are met.
