Sample missing from the Windows 7 SDK RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just installed the Windows 7 SDK, and went looking for the MUISampleApp sample, that MSDN says should be under the winui folder in the samples folder.
The problem is, that this sample is missing (it was in the Vista SDK, which I don't have laying around, and don't want to install just to get a single sample).

I've used the download from here to install it, so it should be the Windows 7 SDK (it also installed into the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0 folder, so it should be the right one)

Does anyone know where I can download just this sample? (and why it has been removed from the Windows 7 SDK) ?

  • The MUI team told me that the sample was removed due to feedback that the sample was confusing and did not clearly illustrate how to use the MUI technology. I’m sorry that we don’t yet have a replacement for this sample.

Users that want to familiarize themselves with MUI should look at the to the HelloMUI sample/tutorial published on Code Gallery: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/hellomui.

If you want to provide details on exactly what you are trying to achieve and what information is missing, I may be able to point you to the appropriate information.

  • CurliGebis, the MUISampleApp sample was removed from the Windows 7 SDK by the MUI team. I’ve written to ask if another sample should be used instead.  I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back from them.

  • Hey

I was just trying to study the sample to see how it is done, since I might be needing it later on :-)

I'll take a look at that sample.

    Thanks :-)
