What is the Difference between ESDHC and USDHC? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

I want to interface EMMC using U SDHC. But, I know that the U SDHC and E SDHC both are in EMMC only. I know E SHCD (Enhanced Secured Digital Host Controller). But, I don't know what is the full form of U SDHC and difference from E SDHC.

    Regards, VinothS

  • USDHC and ESDHC are both Freescale (now NXP) terms for their SDHC module inside many of their SoCs (i.MX in particular).

ESDHC is the older variant and USDHC (Ultra Secured Digital Host Controller) is what is in their newer SoCs. You can download the iMX25 RM and the iMX6 RM and open the ESDHC and USDHC chapter, then look at the feature list to get an understanding of the differences between the two.

    Good luck,
