Percentage Expected vs Percentage Completed RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have the expected percentage in a custom field, but I have differences with the percentage completed at the level of summary tasks. Anyone know how to fix it?

    Greetings.

  • Alex,

So how are you calculating "expected percentage" in your custom field?

When you say you have differences, what are the "differences" between?

It's kind of hard to "fix something" if we don't have enough information to understand the issue.

  • Thanks for your reply.

    expected percentage:

    IIf([Current Date]>[Baseline Finish],"100",IIf([Current Date]<[Baseline Start],"0",ProjDateDiff([Baseline Start],[Current Date],[Calendar])/[Baseline Duration]*100))

The differences are: When the tasks are completed at 100 percent, as expected, the task summary  values are not same.

  • Alex,

There isn't quite enough information provided to give a definitive answer (i.e. what is your calendar, what is the "current date"), but generally this is how Project computes percent complete for summary lines.

Summary line % complete = sum(actual durations of all subtasks)/sum(durations of all subtasks)*100%

In other words, it is a weighted average. Does that help?
