  • I was building the pipeline using the ADF between a on permise sql server where the gateway is already configured and with the azure data warehouse, whenever I enter on permise details by selecting the SQL Server I get the error

I was doing  this using the ADF, Copy feature

  • Hmm looking at different documentations, this seems to be a user profile issue in the configuration between SQL and ADF, Have you performed the step mentioned here : "Create and ecnrypt a SQL Server Linked Service": https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/data-factory/tutorial-hybrid-copy-powershell

the above tutorial includes the step by step guide on creating a pipeline, and testing the connectivity between the SQL and ADF as well. I'd suggest looking into the article since it could be a misconfig  in the setup process.

  • Just wanted to confirm one thing If I configure the IR Gateway into the On-premise machine, then which Type of authentication I need to use Windows or Basic, Apparently I was using SQL Auth.
And Also After setting the credentials will I be able to connect to the On-Premise Server using the Copy feature?

  • Hi there, So using a windows user account names the same as the windows account may do the trick. This is a similar case but with a storage account rather: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/2ffa859b-e9ba-4364-9ca0-07c0f1c51fa4/writing-to-azure-file-storage-through-data-gateway?forum=AzureDataFactory

Have you also checked this post by any chance ? https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/simple-and-reliable-data-movement-with-azure-data-factory-copy-wizard/

    Thanks,

  • Yeah I have checked this  https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/simple-and-reliable-data-movement-with-azure-data-factory-copy-wizard/ link but I am getting the same error when setting up the on premise sql server details.

  • I Have created the linked services and also created the pipeline to test out the table, but it gives me below error:-

Source:SQL side: Integration Runtime (Self-hosted) Node Name=SQL,ErrorCode=UserErrorFailedToConnectToSqlServer,'Type‌=Microsoft.DataTrans‌fer.Common.Shared.Hy‌bridDeliveryExceptio‌n,Message=Cannot connect to SQL Server: 'SQL', Database: 'dev', User: 'test'.,Source=Microsoft.DataTransfer.ClientLibrary,''Type=S‌ystem.ComponentModel‌.Win32Exception,Mess‌age=The user name or password is incorrect,Source=Microsoft.DataTransfer.ClientLibrary,

I have double checked the gateway and all looks well, have also tested the diagnostics setting and it also passes the test of the user which I am using in my linked services, not sure where I am failing.

  • Looking at the error message you received, it is most likely Firewall rules/settings that are preventing you from reaching the SQL server, I'd recommend checking this documentation to allow the specific required ports in the firewall: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/data-factory/create-self-hosted-integration-runtime
