Need to do load balancing of roles in windows failover cluster in runtime RRS feed

  • Question

  • As of now the roles which are created in the failover clustering software have pre defined next preferred owners. I want to do a load balancing of the roles when they failover to the next node.

Use case: There are four nodes (A,B,C,D) in the cluster and there are three roles (Groups/Application and Services) R1,R2,R3. Initially all the four roles are hosted on Node A. Now if Node A fails then all the three roles should evenly get distributed to Node B, Node C and Node D instead of all failing over to Node B.

    1. What are the ways of fetching the private properties of each role in run time.

    2. What are the ways to get the load statistics from remote computers.

    3. Which are the scheduling algorithms which can be used to achieve a balanced failover of the resources.
