Does hotfix 2856657 work for Windows Server 2012 R2? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm working on a bug in which the Splwow64.exe process hangs after a print job finishes in Windows Server 2012 R2. I saw hotfix 2856657 for the same issue in Windows 8/Windows Server 2012, but does this hotfix also work for Windows Server 2012 R2? If not, is there a separate hotfix for 2012 R2?

  • Hi,

KB2856657 is not for Windows Server 2012 R2, but for Windows Server 2012 (without R2).
Please refer to Microsoft Update Catalog.

Sorry, I don't know a kind of alternative patch for Windows Server 2012 R2.

    Regards,

    Ashidacchi

  • Thank you for your reply, Ashidacchi. I spoke to Microsoft Technical Support this morning and they confirmed that this hotfix also works for Windows Server 2012 R2.

  • I tried the hotfix and it was incompatible, the .exe wouldn't even run and gave a version error. Looks like I got the wrong information from tech support :(

  • Hi Gralnach,
