Should we have a biztalk license to use the WCF sql adapter in a .net application. RRS feed

  • Question

  • All,

We want to use the WCF SQL adapter in a traditional .net application (Not BizTalk), what are the licensing terms for this? should we need a BizTalk license?

    Thanks -

  • As of BizTalk Server 2010, it is no longer possible to purchase the Adapter Pack separate. So you need at least a BizTalk Standard Edition.

  • You could conceivably create a custom adapter binding based on the WCF LOB SDK that connects to SQL. But to use the existing SqlBinding as part of the BizTalk adapter pack, you do need a BizTalk license as Morten mentioned.

    Thanks,
