  • Question

  • I try to figure out why my pc shuting down soo long time (about 2-3 min, with a fast SSD). So I installed the WPT.

But when I try to run the xbootmgr (example with "-trace shutdown") it's apear:

"Could not register for fallback at next boot"

I re-enabled the supertfetch service, but it's not help.

    WPA v4.6.7231

    So what is the problem?

  • Hi,

please download the tatest WPT version --> which is 4.8 und use them.

This tool is part of the Windows 7 SDK incl. DotNet Framework v4.
You use the WPT tool from the Windows SDK 7 incl. .Net Framework v3.5.

    Best regards

    Thank you for the answer!

    There is an alternate way to install the WPT?  Becuse the SDK won't install;

  • Hi,

If you had download the current SDK you should find the wpt msi file at the DVD image as well.

And you need to istall the wpt only.

    Best regards

  • Are you running xbootmgr as admin?  It also probably depends on superfetch/readyboot working.  At least it will take longer.

  • Hi Landor,

did you configured some additional things around the SSD drive ?
I know that some manufator prvide special tools to prefent SSD issues and switch of windows functions to do so.

e.g. the Prefetch is disabled and need to bing back on live (and work).

    Best regards

  • Hi!

Yes, I ran the SSD tweaker utility with auto-tweak.

But now I reenabled the superfetch and the prefetch, but same error message.. :(

And yes I ran the xbootmgr as admin.

  • Hi Landor,

did you check if (may be) the pagefile should delete at any shutdown ?
Because I know that this can consume some additional time at the shutdown process as well.

    Best regards
