Deprecation of Extended Stored Procedures RRS feed

  • Question

  • A note is posted on the MSDN website advising developers avoid the use extended stored procedure for SQL Server 2005 and 2008.  The information states their use will be abandoned in the future releases and advocates for the use of CLR.

Will the currently supported extended procedures be deprecated as well i.e. xp_cmdshell or xp_fileexists.   Or will they be rewritten using managed code as well?
