I am trying to install Express Visual studio C# on Windows 2000 and getting the error:
"You must have administrative privileges to run Visual C# 2005 Express Edition Setup."
I know from Microsoft website that installation on W2000 no need administrative privileges.
Somebody knows solution for this ?
I appreciate any help.

You will need to be an admin to install VS Express. Can you point me to the doc which states otherwise?Wednesday, January 10, 2007 2:34 AMModerator

Weston, thank you for the reply.
The documnet I referencing is at the site:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/visualcsharp/download/
It states that administration id need only for Windows Vista:
Download Visual C# 2005 Express Edition Now!
1.
Make sure you're ready!
Before installing, you must uninstall any previous Beta, CTP or Tech Preview versions of SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio 2005, and the .NET Framework 2.0.
If you are running Windows Vista, in order to install Visual C# 2005 Express Edition, you must log in as administrator or as a member of the administrators group. See Visual Studio on Windows Vista for further support information

You should install it as administrator on all windows versions. The text you refer to can also be interpreted that you must logon as administrator on Vista and can not use the fast user switching to do the installation, that is the feature that automatically asks for administrator privileges when needed.
Do not read that as administrator privileges is not needed on other windows versions.
