How to locally debug a timer triggered function? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been looking around and I am totally confused how to locally debug a timer triggered function.  I added one to my test app, and when I run the app, I get this error:

"Missing value for AzureWebJobsStorage in local.settings.json. This is required for all triggers other than HTTP. You can run 'func azure functionapp fetch-app-settings <functionAppName>' or specify a connection string in local.settings.json."

I created a local.settings.json file, but I have no idea what to put in the AzureWebJobsStorage parameter.  I ran the func call specified, it tells me to open and enter a code, which I do, but it keeps asking me to do this over and over again and never gives me anything else to do.

I am completely stuck.  Can someone post some simple example of how to run a time-triggered function locally?  (I'm using VS 2017 professional)
