WCF RIA Service Metadata for LightSwitch required? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys,

If you've followed my threads, you may have noticed that I have severe problems using LightSwitch the way I'd like it to use. However, I'm wondering if I'm making a mistake at some point.

A while ago, we removed the automatically generated "DomainService.metadata.cs", because we didn't use them. However, is this Metadata somehow required by LightSwitch? And, if not, is it documented somewhere?

  • No, the meta-data is not required by LightSwitch at all.

How are you creating your DomainService classes? I hand-create mine, & it couldn't be simpler. Are you using some tool to create yours?

  • Hi Yann,

no, there is no tool involved. I simply add the DomainService via VisualStudio 2012 and then I get the dialog where I can select the ContextClass, if I remember correct.

And then I get this "<DomainServiceName>.metadata.cs". However, we think that the metadata class is not required at all.
