Check the spelling of a word and if it exists

    Question

  • Hello !

    I need to check the spelling of a word and know if the word exists.

    In fact, I need that when the user writes a word I need to be able to check if the spelling of this word is good and if it exists.

    I'm talking about a windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Store apps using C#

    Somebody may help please?

    Thanks

  • Hi DiddyRennes,

    You can use IsSpellCheckEnabled="True" .

    eg:-

    <TextBox IsSpellCheckEnabled="True" />

    or If you need to determines whether text prediction features use:-

    IsTextPredictionEnabled="True"

    for more details find following links:-

  • Hello Rob!

    The Spell Checking API from C++ is not compatible with Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Store apps 8.1.

    Do you have any ideas?

    Thanks

  • You could create a WinRT component wrapper over the C++ Win32 SpellChecker library. Please refer to the following page for more information and sample code: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/17558.spell-checking-winrt-component-c-vb-html5javascript.aspx

    I am afraid that there are no managed spell checking API that you can use directly.

    Hope that helps.

  • Hello Magnus!

    Is it possible to retrieve all words who are in the Windows Phone Vocabulary and put them in a dictionnary for explore it?

    If yes, any ideas to get them dynamically?

    Thanks

    No, since the API doesn't seem to expose any method that returns the entire dictionary this is not possible.
