File Server Resource Manager Won't Start on Windows 8 Server Developer Preview RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I try to open the FSRM with the local machine on the Windows Server Developer Edition I get the following:
"You connected to '<SERVER NAME>' which is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or ealier."
"In this pre-release version of Windows, File Server Resource Manager can manager only servers managing the same version of windows."

Needless to say, I am running Window 8 and not 2008 R2.

I am running in Hyper-V: "Hyper-V Manager; Microsoft Corporation; Version: 6.0.6001.18016"

    See below.

    Thanks in advance

  • I fixed it.  My server only had 512 MB of RAM.

When I increased it to 1024 MB the File Server Resource Manager works fine.
