  • Question

  • Hi

MSDN subscriptions – is not available.

For several weeks, I have been trying to connect to my MSDN subscriber account, but everytime I get this message Sorry, we were unable to service your request”.

Is it a problem for all members or is it only me?

Please inform me when I  can expect to be able to access MSDN subscribers download area again..

    Best regards

I am not sure why you would be receiving this message. There have not been any prolonged system issues that have made Subscriptions unavailable. Please contact support using one of the contact mechanisms under Your Account on http://msdn2.microsoft.com/subscriptions/aa948874.aspx for your location, and customer service personnel should be able to look more specifically at your information for troubleshooting.

Actually I was just confirming what I believe you were experiencing, and saying that I was also experiencing the same errors.

I have reported this as a bug, but please use the http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions as a work around in the meantime while we get this resolved.

  • Thanks for the help Julie!!!

I just got off the phone with Customer Service and this time the lady was nice enough to give me more details and offer follow up.

Apparently there is a problem with upgrades from 1/7 and 1/8. It is affecting a few hundred people. It is a data migration issue. According to her there is a note on my account about this being worked on, but the notes are vague. She also could only find me in a "secondary system".

Megan is going to call me back in a couple of hours once she speaks to the supervisior and will let me know what she finds.

Sorry I dropped this whining in the wrong place.

  • Hi Julie

I am experiencing exactly the same problem as Steen and Kenned (prev thread) - for several weeks now.

We all live in Denmark (i presume). Could this be the issue...?

  • hmmmm....

If you just type http://msdn2.microsoft.com/subscriptions/, it should geodetect your browser settings and resolve to a different page that matches them.

    Possibly: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/da-dk/subscriptions/default.aspx ??

I just went to that page and clicked the "manage my subscription" link and got a 500 Internal Server Error - is that what you have been experiencing?

I will go ahead and get this bug logged with our dev team. If you are starting from a different URL, it would be helpful to know that in case there are other problems as well.

In the meantime, thanks for suggesting the work around of going to http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/default(en-us).aspx

  • Hi

I have tried both, but I can not log in. I am being directed to

    https://msdn2.microsoft.com/Message-Error.htm?aspxerrorpath=/da-dk/subscriptions/manage/default(en-us).aspx

    If I type – msdn.com, I go to http://msdn2.microsoft.com/da-dk/default(en-us).aspx then I click Subscriber Downloads - MSDN Universal Overførsler og produktnøgler - javascript:WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(new WebForm_PostBackOptions("ctl00$mainContentContainer$ctl83$BenefitDetails$ctl00$LinkButton", "", false, "", "https://msdn2.microsoft.com/da-DK/subscriptions/manage/default.aspx?CA=Xena||5B403F3D-F421-477B-99A4-C315BBF0C2B2", false, true))

This result in the same error as the two urls you suggested.

I have only found one way to log in until now as posted previously.

  • This is the error I get no matter what link I use. When I called for help a week ago I was told 3 hours until the problem was fixed. Yesterday I was told they are aware of it and are working on the problem. They can see I am renewed and all is fine with my account. I just can't get to anything.

  • The problem/bug with the Danish Subscriptions Management page was fixed a few days ago (late last week). Thank you all for your patience.

  • Hi Todd:

The problem that started this thread is a separate issue and has been resolved. Your problem is not a "site error" in the same way, but certainly a problem for you (so no less important Smile ).

As I understand it, you are receiving the message that your subscription is expired.

You contacted support and they looked you up and confirmed that they saw something reflecting that your subscription was in fact renewed.

    Is that accurate?

I don't have visibility into the system that has payment information confirmations, but when I look up "todd ross" in the tools I do have access to, I can confirm that there appear to be no Active MSDN Subscriptions.

Please let us know what support mechanism you used (phone or email or online form submission - it varies around the world) and where you are located - country (since there were several Todd Ross's). From there we'll see if we can get the issue escalated at the appropriate support location. Having the SR# would also be useful, along with who the mail came from.

    Thanks.

  • Hello everyone.

I am facing exactly the same problem.

I have renewed my subscribtion 2 months ago, but now I am getting this error message:

"Your default subscription is expired. For more information, click here"

Any idea how to solve it?

  • You should contact Subscriptions Support, just like Todd did.  See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/aa948875.aspx for a list of phone numbers and email addresses by region.
