I just allowed an automatic update to Visual Studio 2019 and now everything is munged! I'm on a new Win 10 machine with almost nothing else on it. I can't REPAIR. I can't UNINSTALL. This is what the Visual Studio Installer looks like when I try to do anything:

    Please help

  • I ended up having to manually delete Visual Studio AND the Visual Studio Installer. Then I could reinstall everything. During the update the paths for VS became munged.

  • Hi Zetar,

In order to investigate this issue further, could you tell me your installation path?

In general, we suggest your full installation path is less than 80 characters. Could you try to change your installation location to a shorter path?

If the issue persists, I need your help to collect more installation logs. Please download and run this collect.exe tool, go to %temp% folder and find the vslogs.zip file, upload it to https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

    Best Regards,

    Anna

  • I could not uninstall either because the path was munged. I had to delete the entire folder and Visual Studio Installer. Then I could download the Visual Studio Installer and reinstall.
