CLOB Data type support/workaround RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I would like to pull data from an Oracle table into Gemini.  This table happens to have a column with a CLOB datatype.  I understand that the difficulty of pulling this column into the table.  In the Table Import Wizard, I can't bring up the preview and filter screen to deselect this column because the wizard tries to preview the data and errors out with a data type error.  Can there be a way to select the columns prior to selecting the preview and filter screen?

I do realize that another work around is to write a select in the query portion of the wizard.

  • You don't have to un-select yourself, before importing we will automatically unselect/exclude the clob data types before importing.
Do you see any problem with that?

  • What is the best way to deal with CLOB data types from Oracle?

  • I'm interested in this as well.  Looking at the data I'm trying to access the CLOB field only contains < 4000 characters of data so I'd like to see the connection provider allow a way to take just a smaller chunk of the CLOB.  That might be a workaround.
