Location aware app failed. Why? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My application failed certification. I don't know why? Even though the comments state that:

    Policy

    2. Prohibited Applications

    Requirements Expected Result

The following requirements apply to applications

that receive the location of a user's mobile device:

2.7.2 The privacy policy of your application must

inform users about how location data from the

Location Service API is used and disclosed and the

controls that users have over the use and sharing

of location data. This can be hosted within or

    directly linked from the application.

    Comments:

It appears there is a privacy policy upon the initial launch of the application, but is not persistent within the

    application.

    Result:

    Fail

Does anyone know what this means? I have an option for the user to turn off location services in an options page within the app. I'm I missing something.

Answers

  • If the privacy policy is implemented within the app and the user is able to easily find it and view it at any time, then that should suffice. You can re-submit the application and include "Tester Notes" (under "more options" in the upload page). In the tester notes you can detail where the privacy policy is.

If you want more clarification/insight, feel free to submit a support request and we will engage one of our members from the certification team.
