Visual Studio 2010 issue with WCF client proxy RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a windows form project that needs to access a WCF service, when I add the service there is no 'client' for the web service created. I have been told there is a known issue with VS2010 and I will need to create the proxy from command line, but I cant find anything that tells me how to do this

  • There is no no such known issue if your service is SOAP complaint.  do you encounter any error or issue when you do a Add Service Reference ?

Anyway, you can use ServiceModel Metadata Utility Tool (Svcutil.exe) command line utility to generate a proxies for you

The following command generates client code from a running service or online metadata documents.
    svcutil http://service/metadataEndpoint

  • Hi,

I have test it in my Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate, then when I use the add service reference, it works very well.

So please make sure that your service runs well.

For creating the proxy, we can also use the Svcutil.exe as @Lingaraj said.
