Visual Studio 2012 remote target kernel driver debugging - VirtualBox RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am trying to start develop kernel-mode software driver. I have Vistual Studio 2012 with WDK 8 installed and going through this tutotorial Write a very small KMDF driver (Windows Drivers) i am stucked on

"Deploying and installing the driver" exactly at Configuring a Computer for Driver Deployment, Testing, and Debugging (Windows Drivers)

Well, i am trying connect remote target (Virtualbox VM with Windows 7 32) on Windows 8 host.

But, it cannot be done, when I try add new computer with Provision, the response from VS is

"Could not find a host entry for "Windows7-32bit"

    here are my settings http://sdrv.ms/VDZ6FF

And when I try add new machine without Provision, add operation passes, but when I try ATACH the result is
    "waiting to connect to target"

Please can you advise? Any help would be appreciated..

It is even possible to get this working through Serial ? Should I try connect through 1394?
Do you know any link where is working tutorial?

I googled, searched this forum and did a lot of trying but without success :/

    Thanks for reply
