Setup for best accuracy

    General discussion

  • Hi!

How do you get the most precise measurements from the kinect (v2)?

What kind of lighting, background, clothing, pose is ideal for the sensor?

I could not find information on this anywhere, so I thought I might as well ask.

  • Assuming you're asking in respect to body tracking.

Sensor placement: at about chest to head height and slightly tilted down so it sees the floor seems ideal.

Lighting: as long as the infra red component is low (so it doesn't overpower the sensor's IR lights). So in general avoid sunlight and lights that get hot to the touch.

Clothing: loose fitting clothing make joint center prediction harder, black clothing can introduce noise due to not enough light being reflected back for proper depth sensing

  • Thank you Brekel :)

    It did improve things somewhat.

BTW: Great job on your software!
