how to assign Audio to an Appointment using Appointment.ReminderSoundFile? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    All,

    I want my own audio to play when the appointment I created gives notification.

    I came through "ReminderSoundFile" property of the Appointment and I tried to use that, but it is playing the default audio not mine.

    The code I used is as follows:

    OutlookSession session = new
     OutlookSession();
    Appointment appt = session.Appointments.Items.AddNew();
    appt.ReminderDialog = true
    ;
    appt.ReminderSet = true
    ;
    appt.ReminderSound = true
    ;
    appt.ReminderSoundFile = "//Program Files//Data//Alarm2.wav"
    ;
    appt.Subject = "Appointment1"
    ;
    appt.Start = DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(1);
    appt.Update();

    What am I missing?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks and regards,

    Himanshu

  • I don't use VB.NET quite often but shouldn't the path be

    appt.ReminderSoundFile = "\\Program Files\\Data\\Alarm2.wav"

    [Replace forword slashes with back slashes.]

  • Hi,

    Chunsheng Tang,

    Thanks for the reply.

    I tried changing the forward slashes with the back slashes, but No luck .

    Device still plays the default sound for the appointment notification.

    FYI : I program in C# and the snippet I posted is in C#, not VB.NET.

    Any ideas what else could be wrong? Are there any SDK samples or code which can be helpful in this?

    Regards,

    Himanshu

  • I made some tests and couldn't make it work either. I didn't find any information on this. Could you report it to http://connect.microsoft.com/visualstudio?

  • Hi,

    Chunsheng Tang,

    I tried to report it at the link given by you. After registering myself, I was provided the options to select the Feedback form .

    I was provided with the following options:

    Bug Forms:

    LighSwitch Bug Form
    Visual Studio 2010, .NET framework 4 and Silverlight Bug Form

    Suggestion Forms:

    LighSwitch Suggestion Form
    Visual Studio 2010, .NET framework 4 and Silverlight Suggestion Form

    Can you please tell which one to select ? I tried going into "Visual Studio 2010, .NET framework 4 and Silverlight Bug Form " but it is not for .net compact framework and does not have any options for that in mandatory fields .

    What should I do?

    Thanks and Regards,
    Himanshu

  • Use "bug forms". There isn't a special queue for .NET Compact Framework, so just post it there and it will be redirected.
