ReportViewer control - timeout error when connecting via VPN RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm developing a Window app which uses the ReportViewer control to run report on a remote server. It works fine when I'm connected to the lan, but via the vpn the report times out. I can open IE and connect to the Reports Manager and run the report, but the ReportViewer control can't connect. I also noticed that I'm not able to deploy reports to the server from Visual Studio when connected via the vpn. On the lan it prompts me for credentials, but on the vpn it just stalls (and basically crashes VS).

Has anyone come up against this problem when connecting via vpn? Is it likely to be a permissions problem on the vpn e.g. it's trying to access a dll and the vpn blocks it?

    Regards,

  • Same here. Seems like VPN is blocking the web service calls.

  • I'm experiencing the same issue.  What type of VPN client are you guys using?  We're currently using Checkpoint.  Funny thing is, we used to use Shiva and ReportViewer worked just fine.  But ever since switching to Checkpoint it only works sporadically, if at all.
