DCOM communication between multihomed PCs RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We are developing a system whichi 2 multihomed PCs communicating via DCOM running on Windows Server 2008.  IT is a closed system, so no ActiveDirectory/Domain server, nor WINS server.

For security reason, we want to control DCOM communications to bind to a specific NIC.
But I found that, with only computer names, we can not control the binding. It looks like the binding
is different from adapter bindings.  I also found that the list order erverAlive2 response and Resolveoxid2 response returns is different from the adapter bindings.

I want to know how a DCOM client decides which network/NIC/adapter to use for a multihomed DCOM server.

We don't want to disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP on any adapters.

    Regards,
