How do you convert raster information into vector with Expression? RRS feed

  • I am completely new to Expression. I am trying convert raster information in vector with Expression. I am coming over from Illustrator CS3.

  • Hi mykhaelo,

    It can be done in Expression.  Select your raster image and use Object>Image>Auto Trace Image.  You can play with the controls:  -Number of colors, Prefiltering & Tigntness of fit,  to tweak the results.  Be aware that this can produce vector files that have very large numbers of nodes and really slow down your computer when Expression Design processes them.  It is best to start with the lower settings and work up to get the results you want.

    Depending on the detail, coloration, etc. of your raster image, sometimes it is simply easier to hand trace to get vector files.
