Can not sign VBA macros in Office 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

I have code signing certificate for signing my applications (from Certum, product name 'Open Source Code Signing in the Cloud', i.e. for signing I must connect online with their application called 'SimplySign'). It works fine with MS 'signtool' for *.exe and *.dll files in command line. But when I try to save Office VBA macro document with my added certificate (added via Tools->Digitalsignature-> <select>), I got message box with error "Can't add digital signature to VBA project. Signature will be deleted". Checked with *.docm (Word) , *.xlsm (Excel), *.vsd (Visio) Office documents with VBA macros.

I asked their support, but answer was: "We only provide the certificate. When it comes to usage and problems that arise, you need to contact directly with Visual Basic Editor support". But with old certificate from other vendor VBA macro signing from VBA Editor worked fine.

    Config: Office 2010 SP2 x86, OS Windows 7 x64 SP1. Certificate for my own person, SHA256, new.

    Evgeny.
