  • Question

  • HI All,

     I am unable to Delete the Publisher in Transactional Replication. it was give error message.

    Could not delete publication 'Test_001'.

    Cannot execute as the database principal because the principal "dbo" does not exist, this type of principal cannot be impersonated, or you do not have permission. Changed database context to 'Test_001'. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

    Help me how to delete the Publisher from replication

    Thanks,Prasad R.

  • Hi Phasad,

    According to the error message you provided, this issue is probably caused by that the user which you logged on to delete the publisher is not sa (sysadmin), or the user does not have sysadmin permission, or the owner of the publisher database is not sa.

    Based on my research, this issue also occurs when you restore or attach the publisher database from another instance of SQL Server and the owner of the publisher database is a domain user or a SQL Server authorization login.

    To work around this issue, please use sa account to connect to SQL Server, run the following script to change the owner of the publication database to sa, and then delete the publication again.

    USE master

    ALTER AUTHORIZATION ON DATABASE::[publicationdatabase] TO [sa];
