SSRS 2005 RDL's in Visual Studio 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I trying to view SSRS 2005 reports in Visual Studio 2010.  My understanding is that the latest Report Viewer control for Visual Studio 2010 (vesion 10) is not compatible with the older 2005 RDL files.  So, I'm trying to use the VS 2008 controls (version 9) in VS 2010.  When I try to do this I get an error that says:

Compiler Error Message: CS0433: The type 'Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportViewer' exists in both 'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms\\Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms.dll' and 'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms\\Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms.dll'

Is it possble to work around this issue?  I've tried many things and nothing seems to work.

  • Check your "References" folder. It is probably referencing both of the assemblies that you mentioned above. You'll need to remove the reference to remove the ambiguity.

  • Hi,

check the references you have used in the appplication and also check the same for your forms. and use only one version on all places.
