Problem connecting Eddie Robot RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am new to robotics. I have installed MRDS4 with Kinect 1.5. I have
assembled Eddie robot as per the instructions given in parallax website.

When I type KinectUI in MRDS command prompt (used 32bit as well as 64 bit), I get the following error

When I type Eddie, I get the following error

Can you pl. help me to sort this problem?

I have also tried running Eddie manifest from Manifest Editor. I get
error when I tried to run Eddie.manifest and
EddieObstacleAvoid.manifest. But when I tried to run
EddieObstacleAvoid.user.manifest, it is working fine showing dashboard
    and Kinect images.

    Pl. help me out.

    Regards

    Sumit

  • Ah, yes. This looks suspiciously like the Kinect SDK 1.5 issue that has been cropping up. There's a work around (sort of) here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/roboticstroubleshooting/thread/5f665529-ffd0-40fd-8d5e-9c66f706b3a1

But I haven't yet heard about a concrete solve for this yet. You could also try rolling back to 1.0 of the Kinect SDK, but I found that didn't solve the problem--for whatever reason, once I had installed 1.5, I was getting the same errors you described above, and found that using the "user" kinect contract solved the problem. Let me know how that works for you...

  • Hi Art,

    Thanks for replying.

I tried to run EddieObstacleAvoid.user.manifest.xm from manifest editor and it is working fine. But if I type Eddie or EddieDirect or KinectUI, I am getting errors.

  • Hi Sunit,

The images in your post may not have uploaded completely (I'm not able to see the actual error message). Could you try reposting?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Art,

Thanks for the reply. Every time I am trying to upload the image, it is showing only a small portion of it. I have added both files in skydrive.
