Update Task RTF Notes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm aware of the fact that the PSI is not designed to handle binary data for updating SQL image fields e.g. the TASK_RTF_NOTES column from the MSP_TASKS table. However, is there a best practice of updating this field directly?

As I read in the remarks of this page

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/gg211556(v=office.14).aspx

one would have to fill up the field with binary data (that represents a RTF document of course) and set the TASK_HAS_NOTES flag to 1.

Has anybody changed those RTF Notes programmatically? Are there stored procedures (that Project uses) one could use? Do I loose warranty when doing this kind of editings?

    Thank you all very much,

    Tom

  • HI there--

You are right. The TAsk_RTF_NOTES is not available in projectdataset TAsk row. You will need to use as mentioned in article. We can use the stored procedures but modifying/editing the OOB stored procs may lead to corruption in functionality or broken PWA instance & will NOT be supported by MS.

    Hope that helps.

  • Hi Amit,

thanks for your quick response! Could you tell me which stored procedures to use to write the TASK_RTF_NOTES-column in the database? Should I use draft or published database? Using this stored procedures without any changes in it will result in conflicts? Will directly changing the column via SQL result in conflicts?

    Thanks again,

    Best regards, Tom
