[MS-TDS] (Data Type Definitions) New data types in SQL Server 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • SQL Server 2008 (I have used rc0) and ADO.NET (I have used .NET framework 3.5) allow 5 new data types in TDS, which are not currently documented.

These need to be added to subsections of

    The types are:

    DATE              0x28
    TIME              0x29
    DATETIME2         0x2A

    STRUCTURED        0xF3

"Structured" is only available in RPC calls I think, not in data sets - for "Table Valued Parameters"

I would also like to know, as for the other data types in RPC calls, how to interpret the data values for these, as well as the type specifications.

Also, the documentation for UDTs may need to be updated to take account of "Large User-Defined Types".
