Windows CE 5.0 and TLS RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have run into an issue with SSL on our Windows CE 5 devices.  With browsers like Chrome and Firefox warning users or just disabling usage on  sites that use SSL, we have turned off SSL support in the Windows CE webserver and just use TLS on our  CE 6 systems and that works great.  When we do the same thing on the Windows CE 5.0 systems  (that CE image includes all the latest QFE’s Microsoft has published through 2014), the TLS doesn’t appear to work correctly.  We have used WireShark to watch the packets and we see the CE6.0 working with TLS, but the Viper with 5.0 is refusing the TLS connection.    The certificate we are using with SSL is just fine.  It's only after we turn off SSL through the registry that we run into this issue.

The basic question to start with is, has anyone had any luck with using just TLS for their Windows CE 5 systems?

    Thanks,

    Rick
