Windows XP home limited working with Visual Express Edition RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

finally I decided to chance operating system for all machines to windows XP (home edition) and lost the benefit of Visual Studio C++. Ok, I can managed with Express edition since I write only webpages... I thought. After succesfull installations and some direct work to servers I tried to build websites which I can test on my computer.... but there is the problem:

You can not install any personal webserver to home edition?! I red this from Microsoft pages. Is this through? Is there any way I can view my ASP-pages on my computer before I test pages on net? Is there any way to install personal web server for XP home edition?

And now I understand why I cant ftp with my browser. Since home edition does not support that too, they say!

Is there any other funny sides in XP home edition for programmers?

What to do... o, what to do...

And when I was consulting myself from Microsoft Finland I was succested only express edition... nothing about XP home edition side effect...

Can anybody help me with this painfull dilemma?

    Jari
