Azure RMS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have the below questions regarding RMS:

    • RMS is intended for internal use, correct? Or can it be used externally with other companies who do have RMS enabled in their organization?
    • Policies which are enabled in Azure don't show in OWA. I believe there was a Powershell command that needed to be run on Exchange Online.
    • We have created a new group in Azure which could be used in RMS templates, but for some reason now it's showing with an 'X' and cannot select it.
    • We also tried using RMS Viewer however to set up you need to input a server name. Is that a common server name (example: outlook.office365.com) or do I need a specific server name?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Regards,

    Johnross

  • Can be shared externally.

Policies for Exchange (OWA) are different as they deal with email, not documents.

Not sure about the group, might be a bug

The RMS viewer app is for on-prem servers. With Azure RMS, use the RMS sharing app instead: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn339006.aspx

There's very detailed documentation on Azure RMS and FAQ, I suggest you go over them: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn750853.aspx

  • Vasil took care of most of your questions. For #3, does the group have an email address? That's a requirement.

    Thanks, Brian

  • Brian, I added an email to the group and it worked. Thanks.

Dear Vasil, many thanks for the detailed documentation. I'll check it out and open a new thread if need be. Do you know how to set policies for OWA?

    Thanks,

  • If asking about rights policy templates for Azure RMS please see the following resource. It contains a section about Exchange Online and templates as well.

Configuring Custom Templates for Azure Rights Management
