Problem in the detection of storage devices in windows CE 6.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have installed Windows CE 6.0. The problem is in the memory capacity. (ie) if my USB pen drive and onboard Flash is of 4GB and 2GB respectively means, its detecting only half of the storage capacity.there is no problem with the storage devices as it shows the exact storage capacity of the devices.kindly revert with solutions

    Using FAT in DOS

    There is a limit to the size of a disk when using FAT, but that doesn't completely explain the sizes that you see.   I suspect that this has something to do with the tool that you used to format the disk and the options that you chose, or were defaults.

  • 1. How are you checking the capacity?

    The actual capacity can be found out in 3 places

    • In WinCE6.0 Through Control panel->Storage manager
    • Also the size shown here matches if i check the storage devices capacity on other OS.
    • Also the capacity is specified on USB storage device

    2. What is "it" and how does it both report half capacity and at the same time report the exact capacity?

    if i check Windows Explorer->USB or Onboard flash properties,it shows as

               USB- 1.79GB(free)                      onboard flash- 891MB(free)

                       4KB(used)                                                62.6MB(used)

    but if i check Through Control panel->Storage manager it shows te actual size as

              USB- 3.81GB(capacity)                  onboard- 1.80GB(capacity)

                      2.88GB(unallocated)                            1.75MB(unallocated)
