Excel cannot read my Odata source RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to import data into Excel 2016 using a V2 OData server that my company has built. The source works for Tableau, for example, but Excel cannot process the data.

I think Excel is demanding JSON format which we do not support. The Accept header appears to say that it will accept Atom/XML as well as JSON. Nevertheless, we get an error message from Excel

The message <g class="gr_ gr_245 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_run_anim Punctuation only-del replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="245" id="245">is:</g> Details: "OData: The given URL neither points to an OData service or a feed: 'http://localhost:8080/OptionService/odata.svc/CDS-Forecast'."

Our server console shows that the correct XML was returned to Excel.

  • Hi,

Do you import data using Power Query for Excel?

Since your issue is not related to Office object model, it is about Power Query for Excel, I suggest you post in Power Query forum:
