Sharepoint and microsoft access RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm trying to build a database using Microsoft access and hosted by Microsoft SharePoint. yet I'm confused whether I should have Microsoft office 365 on top of that. If this is not the case and desktop Microsoft access could be fully integrated with Microsoft SharePoint, what could be the added value for having Microsoft office 365  ?? Is it only an alternative for the desktop version or there are other functionality that might be lost ??

    Best Regards,

  • MS Access works with an on premises installation of either SharePoint Server 2010 or 2013, Office 365 has a component called SharePoint Online which roughly currently has a subset of the features of SharePoint 2013.  The advantages of Office 365 mainly are:

    - Hosting is the responsibility of MS, so you don't have to worry about that

    - It contains other features such as an Outlook mailbox and access to Lync
