  • Hi dfsafd,

    Could you check whether you could create a new universal project to find out the error with your project of the visual studio?

    >>If you could create a new universal project, it might be something wrong with your project. I’m afraid that it is not the Visual Studio Setup and Installation issue, it would be related to the Developing Universal Windows apps, you could consult your issue on this forum: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/home?forum=wpdevelop

    >>If you couldn’t create a new universal project, it might be your visual studio installed unsuccessfully.
    Please use the FCIV.exe to verify the ISO checksum, the download link and the usage of FCIV: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290
    Using this tool, you will get the SHA-1 value of your package, refer to this page about the SHA-1 values of visual studio 2015 with different versions: https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/downloads/visual-studio-2015-iso-sha1-vs.aspx
    If your SHA-1 value doesn’t equal the value in the above page, it means that your package is corrupted, please re-download and reinstall it.

    >>If the Windows Universal template doesn’t exist, you can go to the Control Panel -> Programs and Features, to check whether the “Universal Windows App Development Tools” exists.
    If not, you might forgot to select the “Universal Windows App Development Tools” CheckBox in the optional features when you install the release candidate. Go to Programs and Features, select the Visual Studio 2015 RC, and then right click, click change, select “Modify”, check the “Universal Windows App Development Tools”. Follow up the installation steps.
    If exists, your template maybe corrupted, you can take following steps to reset your visual studio templates:
    1. Open Windows Explorer, and navigate to <Visual Studio Installation Path>\Common7\IDE (by default is C:\Program Files \Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE);
    2. Delete the ItemTemplatesCache, ProjectTemplatesCache folder;
    3. Open Visual Studio Command Prompt under Start menu -> All Programs -> Microsoft Visual Studio -> Visual Studio Tools (run it with administrative privilege);
    4. Run the devenv /InstallVSTemplates switch;
    5. Run the devenv /Setup switch;
    Or try to repair the Visual Studio 2015 on the Control Panel -> Programs and Features, select the VS2015, right click, click “Change” and then select the “Repair”.

    At last, if the above doesn’t work, please use  http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://skydrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

    Hope this information is helpful.

    Best Regards,
    Jiayi Li
