Insert 1x1 table into Outlook message with keyboard shortcut RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've written VBA before for Excel but never for Outlook.  I'd like a keyboard shortcut from within the compose message window to insert a simple 1x1 table with a formatted background, preferably with a predefined width/height and padding if possible.  I send SQL queries, code samples, etc via email to colleagues and if I could easily paste them into a box like that which stands out it would be nice.

    So, a few questions.

    1. What objects/classes do I need to insert a table.

    2. How do I create a macro global to Outlook, not just a particular message or calendar event?  I'm used to having a macro embedded in an Excel file that lives only within that file.  Same principle in Outlook?

I think I can figure out the keyboard shortcut thing myself.  Just a customized ribbon kind of thing.

    Thanks!
