Telephony Service on Server 2008 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We have recently updated our work network to route over different Subnets and came across a delay from our TAPI Server to our client machines which are on different Subnets.

We have used WireShark to find that the delay is when the packets are coming out of the TAPI Server. It looks like the Telephony Service uses NetBIOS before it uses DNS and where NetBIOS is broadcast traffic it doesn't route over the subnets so I think it then times out then uses DNS which is what causes the delay.

We then setup a wins server and the long delays seemed to be gone but I just need you to confirm if Telephony Service uses NetBIOS? if not it could be our TAPI software we use.

    Kind Regards
