Windows Hardware Lab Kit Studio does not see client test system RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have test server that runs Windows Server 2012, and test client that runs Windows 10. Test client is physical machine, and test server is virtual machine (we connect to this virtual machine through VNC). We use Windows Hardware Lab Kit to perform various tests for our external hardware driver (to sign it for public release).

I followed this instruction to install server part:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/test/hlk/getstarted/step-1-install-controller-and-studio-on-the-test-server

Test server was configured as Domain Controller, so I had to demote it in order to install Windows Hardware Lab Kit Studio + Controller (Controller can not be installed on Domain Controller).

Next, I installed client part following this instruction:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/test/hlk/getstarted/step-2--install-client-on-the-test-system-s-

After installation it appeared in programs list.

When I launch Hardware Lab Kit Studio (on test server) there is no test machines discovered in Configuration -> Machine Pools -> Default Pool, however test client is alive. I can ping client on the server, and vice versa - ping server on the client. I tried to disable windows firewall, with no luck. Step 3 clearly states that test client should be automatically detected by test server:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/test/hlk/getstarted/step-3-create-a-machine-pool

I think that it has something to do with different networks - test client sits in different network. Can you help me to figure out the problem? Thank you.
