Master Page cannot be loaded RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm a newbie trying out MS Expression for the first time.  I would like to use it to update and add pages to an exisiting website.

When I open a page, I get the message:  "Master Page file 'master.Master' cannot be loaded.  Correct the problem in Code View."

In Code View, the first line is highlighted:

    <%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/master.Master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="hiringassistance.aspx.cs" Inherits="BobWilson.hiringassistance" Title="Advisa | ADVISA Hiring" %>

    What is the problem?

Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.

  • There is no way for us to know what the problem is.  We don't know any more than what you posted.

We don't know where your files are, if you are working locally or remotely, if you are working in a defined website (so that ~ means something), if the files are where they are supposed to be ... etc.

  • Hi Beth:

Is the page you are opening part of a web site? Make sure you open the web site first before you try and open the page.
