WinCE updates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

We are workin on WinCE 6.0 R3.

When installing monthly updates, my understanding is that the updates are cumulative, so that if e.g. I installed update for March 2010 I dont need to install update for all the months before this (since R3 was released)?

    Is this correct?

  • Hi,

AFAIK the monthly updates doesn't include updates from previous months.

For example if I see update Windows Embedded CE 6.0_Update_100131_2010M01.htm it contains a update for Bluetooth component. Similarly when I read Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Update 100331_2010M03.htm it doesn't contain any information about the same fix in that monthly package.

These htm file are nothing but a downloadable file from following URLs and for 2010-March and 2010-January respectively.

I hope this answers your question.

    Thank You & Regards,

  • My understanding is that that they "accumulate" once a year whereas the month by month updates are additive not cumulative.

That is, you have to install the updates that you need on a monthly basis through the year.

But you don't have to start way back in time.

At the end of each year a cummulative update for the year ( and previous) is generated.

So in any year you start at the previous year's cummulative update then integrate forwards which each month.

  • yes. GSR is right. Monthly updates are not cumulative. but yearly rollups are cumulative.
