Data from Access 97 failed to migrate to SQL Server 2005 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all

I am having problems upsizing an access database to sql server. The migration assistant runs through the converting and loading stages with no errors, however the migration is failing completely, no data presents itself within the sql database, however the table does.

I have been playing about with it and noticed when the tables were linked, the data wasn't showing in the access tables either. However when data was manually put in, it was displayed with the sql table and the access table.

Any ideas or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  • I have come up with a solution but it was without using migration assistant!

In the end I simply imported the data into SQL via the management studio, then linked the tables in Access from FILE >> GET EXTERNAL DATA >> LINK TABLES. This works perfectly.

However what I also found out was making sure the DSN is set up within Control Panel before doing this.
