External Dependancies Folder in Solution Explorer RRS feed

  • Question

  • When working with a C++ project in Visual Studio 2013 Update 4, the Solution Explorer exposes an External Dependency folder. Lots of files in there. When this folder is branched out, my source and header folders in Solution Explorer are pushed down past my view. Because the External Dependency folder keeps branching itself out, I have a constant problem of having to lose it to accesss my source and header files.

How can I keep this External Dependency folder closed, hide it, delete it or remove it?

  • Hi Joel_Z,

we can disable the "External Dependancies Folder" through following steps.

    1. Click the "Tools" menu in Visual Studio.
    2. Select "Options" option to open the options window.
    3. Choose "Text Editor" node and expend the C/C++ node.
    4. In the "Advanced" tab, find the "Disable External Dependencies Folders".
    5. Set the value as "True".
    6. Restart your Visual Studio.

    Best Regards,
