Windows Store Application PreInstall for OEMs RRS feed

  • Question

  • I work for a company that builds OEM PC's and we wish to preinstall a metro app we've developed for the PC's we build.

Any guidance on how to do this? I believe it would be based on the information MS have published for creating Device Apps but that information is primarily for developing apps for devices (webcams etc) instead of preinstalling apps on oem pc's..

  • See Publishing your app to the store / OEM developers for information about the developer side of this. For information about how to set up an OEM installation please check the appropriate libraries and forums on http://technet.microsoft.com .

  • How does the custom data file mechanism work? As I understand it, OEMs preinstall the App and also include a "custom.data" file. I assume the content of this file is then available to the App? If so, how do I access it? Will its content be lost if the App is upgraded later?
